USING MAJORDOMO COMMANDS
Commands should be sent in the body of an e-mail to majordomo@cliff.acs.oakland.edu or majordomo@oakland.edu. Commands in the "Subject:" line are not processed. Multiple commands can be processed provided each occurs on a separate line of the e-mail.
In the descriptions below, items contained in round brackets are optional. When providing the item, do not include the round brackets around it. Items in quotation marks, such as "address", are meta-symbols that should be replaced by appropriate text without the quotation marks. Majordomo understands the following commands:
- subscribe maxx ("address") - Subscribe yourself (or "address" if specified) to the list.
- unsubscribe maxx ("address") - Unsubscribe yourself (or "address" if specified) from the list. "unsubscribe *" will remove you (or "address") from all lists. This may not work if you have subscribed using multiple addresses.
- get maxx "filename" - Get a file from The Outback.
- index maxx - Retrieve an index of files you can "get" from The Outback.
- which ("address") - Find out which lists you (or "address" if specified) are on.
- who maxx - Find out who is on the list.
- info maxx - Retrieve the general introductory information for the list.
- intro maxx - Retrieve the introductory message sent to new Outback members. Non-subscribers
may not be able to retrieve this.
- lists - Show the lists served by this Majordomo server.
- help - Retrieve the help message. It contains all of the commands listed.
- end - Stop processing commands (useful if your mailer adds a signature).
